Getting ranked on google is not hard to do, you just simply have to build your site out with original content and submit the url to google. As long as you are following best practices such as original content and not using spam to build backlinks google will normally index your site very quickly. Getting indexed and ranking on the first page of google are two entirely different things. WordPress makes it easy to modify your meta data such as description, keywords, and title tags. All of these are used by google and other search engines when determining the position your website will show.
