Why should you get a claybar treatment?

Gainesville Detailing often asks its customers if they have heard of a claybar treatment.  In Gainesville, Florida most people have either not heard of a claybar or they know very little at best.  I am going to try to lay out the reasons one is used and what kind of benefits one can reasonably expect.  The usual response I get to the aforementioned question is what is a claybar.  To put it simply…it’s a piece of clay.  One might be wondering how a piece of clay could help out a vehicles paint.  The truth is in the pudding, or this time the clay.  When used properly the detailing clay will remove most foreign particles that are bonded to a vehicles paint.

Full Detail on a Chevy HHR

Today i had the opportunity of detailing a Chevy HHR. These vehicles are kind of funny looking to me. I believe it was a remake of an older version or something. The vehicle has a dark blue paint with metallic flecks in it. The paint was not in too good of shape. After washing it really good with the two bucket wash method I gave it a clay treatment. Here is a picture of what the clay looked like after a few passes in a two by two foot section on the hood. Needless to say this vehicle needed paint cleaning really bad. All I was going to do today though was wash, clay, and polish then wax. All of these steps were done by hand. It is going to need some paint correction with a machine, but for now it needed these hand steps at the least.
