Carlos Dunlap, who according to Mel Kiper, may go in one of the top three spots could have cost himself a lot of money. Last night Carlos Dunlap was arrested and charged with DUI. Money is not the most important thing that may have been lost. Looming like the shadow of a tall skyscraper in a lost city is the SEC Championship game which for the last two seasons has feature undefeated Alabama and Florida teams.

Early on the morning of December 1st Gainesville Police found Carlos Dunlap asleep at the wheel of his Chrysler. According to police reports witnesses’ had called in to report a person in a Chrysler driving reckless in the area.

Gainesville Police Officer Robert Rodgers spoted Carlos Dunlap, in his vehicle, which fit the description of eye-witnesses, and observed it come to a stop on a green light. Multiple cycles of the light system went and the car remained motionless.

“The front windows of the defendant’s (Dunlap’s) vehicle were cracked slightly and officers on the scene were unable to wake the defendant,” According to the statement given in the report filed by GPD officer Rodgers. “Loud repetitive commands were given to the defendant who would only open his eyes momentarily and nod back off.”

One must wonder how much it takes a manchild who stands a mear six foot eight inches tall and weighs close to 300 pounds to get that wasted. The guy may have just lost a small chunk of change in the NFL draft but if suspended for the SEC Championship he has lost much more.

News of the story first broke on the Gainesville Sun website and was immediately picked up by ESPN in time for their morning show. University spokesman Steve Mcclain had this coment, “We are aware of the incident and are currently gathering more information,”.

Urban Myer probably will meet with officials at the school sometime today and have a ruling by the end of the day. Expect Dunlap to get a minor slap on the wrist, maybe not start. I do not think that Myer will bench him for the game. Let’s face it Carlos Dunlap is 21 and made a stupid decision which will cost him for some time to come. Traffic school may erase the points on your license but it will not raise your draft status. Comments are welcome. What do you think Urban Myer is going to do.

There are a few different repo services in Gainesville florida. Some that we can think of off the top of our head are S.V. Recovery, Asset Recovery Services, and Search International. Remember to keep your payments up to date and these folks wont have to come see you.

Of the two websites that are available Asset Recovery Services is far better. None of the tabs on S.V. Recovery seem to work while all the tabs work on Asset Recovery Services. After two alcohol related deaths in 2004, and 2005 UF officials put the pressure on Jacksonville officials to do something to help improve safety at the University of Florida Gators vs. University of Georgia Bulldogs.

Some of the changes in the city’s policy are outlined here below.  Also the Jacksonville Landing will change its policy.  The Landing is an assortment of restaurants, bars and a music venue.  Every year the football game brings in thousands to the Jacksonville area, and the Landing is a hot spot for people to go to.

• The number of vendors selling alcohol outdoors at the Landing will be reduced by half
• There will be no more mobile shot vendors walking the complex
• In some areas at the Landing police presence will be increased by %25
• Sideline Student Safety Zones, where students can find missing friends and find transportation, will be doubled
• Police will be strictly enforcing occupancy limits at establishments
• The largest cup of alcohol will be twenty ounces, down from a previous restriction of sixty ounces
• No one will be allowed to hand out fliers
• The Landing will rearrange any movable items to allow for greater traffic of people

These are all measure that the UF president Bernie Machen and his staff were seeking.  Some things that didn’t get passed were a complete ban on shots.  As it is you may only buy shots indoors.  Outdoor sales of shots have been forbidden.  These measures seem to be a step in the right direction.
